Can I get copies of civil records?
Civil case records are generally available to the public unless the case file is sealed. Records can be requested in person or through our e-certification web portal. There is a $1.00 copy fee per page. If the record needs to be certified, there a $2.50 certification fee will be charged which includes one copy page with additional pages incurring the $1.00 copy fee per page.​​
Open Records Act Requests
Please submit your Open Records Act request pursuant to O.C.G.A 50-18-71. A $1.00 per page copy fee will apply to all records being requested. If the records need to be certified, a $2.50 certification fee, which includes one copy page, will be applied; additional pages will incur the $1.00 per page copy fee. The Clerk's Office will notify you within three business days of receiving this request detailing the required fees or for reasons why the request cannot be fulfilled within the three business days. Fees must be paid prior to fulfilling this request. You can submit your request in writing or by using our online submission form.
How can I conduct civil record research?
A free public terminal is available in the courthouse that may be used for research purposes, as well as a limited online case search portal (this option does not display the proceeding images). If you have an account with re:SearchGA, you can view some cases through this service. ​​
The Clerk's Office will not conduct case research for individuals or for private entities including background check companies. The Clerk's Office will not discuss case details or interpret case proceedings for individuals or private entities, including background check companies, over the phone.
I need an attorney!
You have two options for representation: you can represent yourself or seek the services of a private attorney. The Public Defender's Office does not provide services for general civil cases. Use the links below or the links in our Legal Help section to explore your options. The Clerk's Office cannot provide legal advice by law in accordance with O.C.G.A §15-19-51.
