You can now get your passport and VISA photos in our office ∙
The Clerk of Superior Court is the Passport Agent for Jones County for normal processing of a new passports only; customers will receive their passport within a certain time frame depending on processing capability of the passport processing facilities. The average wait time is currently four to six weeks for standard passport processing and two to three weeks for expedited processing. We cannot guarantee delivery of your passport as we only handle the application portion of the process; for current processing status, please visit travel.state.gov, or click on the check passport status button on the home page. Those wishing to receive passports sooner may request expedited service, at an additional cost (see fee schedule below), to receive their passport within two weeks from the date of receipt of the passport application at the passport agency.

As a courtesy, we will assist you in preparing passport forms that are not processed through our office including passport renewals and first year name changes.
Getting your passport before your wedding?

You can change the name on your passport for free within the first year of its issue date. To change your name, you must submit the name change form along with proof of your name change.
If international departure is less than two weeks, or if a passport is needed for foreign visas, application at a Regional Passport Agency may be advisable. Visit travel.state.gov for more information. We are not responsible for your passport application once it is mailed from tour office. Furthermore, the Passport Agency will not accept calls from any Passport Agent on your behalf.
We only accept checks and money order for passport applications and check, money order, or cash for our execution fee.
We stop processing passport applications at 3:30 pm daily to ensure that processed applications are mailed that day.

General Passport Process
All Passport Applications must be completed by the customer and executed in person before the Clerk or Deputy Clerk of Superior Court.
First Time Applicants for Passport Book or Passport Card (Form DS-11):
The applicant must provide proof of US Citizenship such as a certified birth certificate, proof of identity such as a valid permanent driver’s license, and one recent color 2×2-inch passport photos. Passport photos can be taken in our office for a small fee (please refer to the fee schedule at the bottom of the page for the most up-to-date fees).
If the applicant is 18 or older he/she must sign the application and use his or her own ID.
If the applicant is between 16 and 17 years of age, the applicant must sign the application and be accompanied by at least one parent who will sign the application or provide proof that a parent or guardian is aware of that they are applying for a passport. If the applicant lacks his or her own ID the parent’s ID must be used.
If the applicant is under 16 years of age, the applicant must submit proof of relationship to the parents (typically by submitting a birth certificate that lists both parents or an adoption decree) and be accompanied by BOTH parents. Both parents’ signature are required on the application, or one signature and a completed DS-3053 (a custody order or a death certificate may be required).
Regardless of age, all applicants must be present when applying for a passport. A child must be seen by passport agent.
Is your minor or adult passport still valid?

If your adult or minor passport is still valid, it must be submitted with the passport renewal application (for adults) or the new passport application (for renewing minor passports).
Renewal Passport Applicants By Mail (Form DS-82) or online at travel.state.gov:
The issue date of the last passport was less than 15 years ago and the Applicant must have been16 years old or older when it was issued.
If the applicant's name changed, the appropriate certified legal documentation (court order, marriage certificate, etc...) must be submitted with the renewal.
The expired undamaged passport can be submitted as proof citizenship instead of a birth certificate or naturalization certificate.

The applicant must take or obtain a new 2" x 2" passport photo to attach to the DS-82 application or to upload to the online application. Digital passport photos can be taken in our office for a small fee (please refer to the fee schedule at the bottom of the page for the most up-to-date fees). Once the photo has been taken, we will email the photo to you so that you may upload it to the online application.
If all of the above apply, the applicant may download the form at travel.state.gov and submit by mail, use the online renewal service through travel.state.gov, or obtain a paper form by coming into our office.
Passport application fees must be paid with a check (personal check or cashier's check; counter checks will not be accepted) or money order made out to: The US Department of State. The memo section, or for section on some money orders, must contain the applicant's full name and date of birth.

The Clerk's Office execution fee may be paid with a check, money order, or cash.
Passport Photos

There are a few things to keep in mind regardless of if you take your passport photo yourself or if you use a third-party service.

The backdrop/background of the photo should be a white, neutral, or light gray color.

Do not try to smile on purpose. You should have a neutral smile/expression while taking your photo.

Do not wear a uniform top, a camo top, or a light-colored top that will blend in with the lightly colored back drop.

If you have long hair, make sure it is tucked behind your ears and your ears are visible in the photo.

Do not wear your glasses in the photo unless you have an affidavit from your doctor stating you are required to wear your glasses at all times.​

Do not wear any religious head or face coverings unless you have an affidavit from your religious leader stating that such coverings are required by your faith.
