Juvenile Division

The juvenile court handles many matters involving those under the age of 17. These types of cases include child custody/guardianship issues, Department of Family and Children Services complaints, Children In Need of Services, and certain juvenile criminal offenses, moving violations, and status offenses.

Please visit https://djj.georgia.gov/criminal-justice-process-juveniles for information for how juvenile criminal cases move through the court process.

Juvenile records are strictly protected by Georgia law (O.C.G.A § 15-11-704) and cannot be generally viewed by the public. Juvenile records requests must meet the following criteria:

  • The requestor must make their request in person.

  • The requestor must be a party of the case, or a parent/guardian of the juvenile in question (the appropriate paperwork showing custody/guardianship may be required).

  • A valid government picture ID must be presented at the time of request (copies of ID's or temporary ID's will not be accepted).

  • There will be a $1.00 copy fee for each page.

  • If the record needs to be certified, a $2.50 certification fee will be applied which includes one copy page.

* If you are a military recruiter, you must obtain a court order from the juvenile court to access any juvenile records, or you can send the recruitee to the courthouse to obtain their own records.

Information about juvenile cases will not be given out over the phone under any circumstances!
